History of Achaia

 

    • Our region’s history dates to the prehistoric period and civilisation in the region first appeared during the late Neolithic period. The Achaeans are an     ancient Greek race that occupied the region in 1088 BC that gave their name to the region, which has persisted down to modern times. Achaia’s       presence in the historical events of Greece has always been decisive.
      
    • Achaia is situated in the northwest Peloponnese and is the nation’s 3rd most populous prefecture, with Patras, the largest city in Western Greece, as the capital.
